An overwhelming response for tickets to see Sara Palin has prompted a suspension in ticket sales. The former Alaska Governor and 2008 GOP Vice Presidential Candidate will be the featured speaker at the annual Salina Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

Chamber President and CEO Dennis Lauver tells KSAL, that they are working through a backlog of requests. "At this point if you have already contacted us, be patient - we are processing all of those requests," he said. "There is no guarantee that even if you have contacted us, that we will have room for you."

Lauver added he is pleased with the response and that he and his staff are diligently trying to open up as much seating space as they can at the Bicentennial Center. Over 1,400 VIP seat sold out the first day tickets were available.

Palin became a household name when she ran on John McCain's ticket in the last presidential election. She is known as a person who won't simply follow the party line, and stands up for her beliefs. Palin, who recently resigned as the governor of Alaska, has a new book coming out.
