A World War II soldier will be posthumously honored at Fort Riley with a Purple Heart.

According to the Army, Soldiers and family members with the 4th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, will posthumously award Master Sgt. Marion D. Deshon the Purple Heart for valorous service during World War II.

Deshon's family will accept the Purple Heart on his behalf at 10 a.m. March 26th at St. Mary's Chapel, Fort Riley.

Deshon served in Germany and Austria during World War II. He also served during the Korean Conflict.
