The motorcycle rider crashed while being pursued by the Riley County Police Department.

A motorcycle rider is injured early Saturday morning when he crashes while fleeing police.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Robert Wooster Jr. was on a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, being pursued by the Riley County Police Department.

The motorcycle drove east on Griffith Drive at a high rate of speed. Wooster lost control and struck a curb, then a mailbox. The bike came to rest up against a legally parked car.

Wooster, who was wearing a helmet, was hurt. He was transported to the hospital in Manhattan.

The crash happened just before 12:30 Saturday morning, east of Tuttle Creek Blvd on Griffith Drive in Manhattan.
