Death Of 2-Year-Old Called Tragic Accident
Associated Press - Tue 02:00 PM 06/19/2012
Herington police say a 2-year-old girl died after a dresser drawer and TV fell on top of her at her home.
Police Chief John Pritchard says the girl's mother found her just after noon Monday.
Police believe the girl climbed onto a stool to reach a large television on top of a dresser. The dresser tipped, causing the child to fall. A dresser drawer and the TV also fell, hitting her on the head.
Pritchard called the death a tragic home accident.
The girl's name was not released.

AN accident that could have been averted if the parent was watching the child. A child that young needs some supervision. Tragic as it is it could have been averted.

Unless you have the young child in a playpen/crib, you can't always be around. All it takes is a quick second and something like this can happen. For all we know, mom/dad/sibling, might have just walked out of the room to grab something real quick. We don't know, so we should probably hear the whole story before we start throwing stones at the glass house. This is a sad sad story, and this family is in my thoughts and prayers.

No judgement need be made. All flat screens on tables, dressers and such must be anchored. The penalty is too high. All two year olds have the curiosity to climb.

This could happen to anyone with small children at anytime!! I hope the parents of small children read this and take the appropriate precautions against a tragedy like this happening again in the future.

Really???? Is that all you guys have to do around here is talk crap about people and judge people you dont know? I know this family, and they are very loving people and amazing parents. Some people need to learn to keep their mouths shut instead of running it about things they dont know.

1983, yes, really. I only check ksal about once a week and rarely read the comments anymore because all it is, is the same 5 losers that are filled with hate and bash any authority and or race. I wish everyone would just not read the comments anymore because they only admire each other, thank god they are the in the .05% category of the population. The other 99.95% think logically. God bless the family in this story. Tragic.

Thanks for the insight on them. Hopefully nothing ever happens to their own kids or family members. I would hate to see what trash they would say about them or themselves.

Amen tlittle....I don't know why I bother to read comments anymore...it's all about the little "hate club", hardly ever see actual intelligent comments because of this little band of ignorant jerks. Condolences to this family, this is just sad beyond words....

This is so sad and yes could happen so quickly. My son was much older that two and just left the top two drawers of his highboy dresser open making it top heavy and it tipped. Thankfully I was right there and grabbed it and it did not fall on him but everything on top of it slid off, including a candle. At first I was angry but only for a second before I realized what could have happened. Thoughts are with the family for sure. Very sad!
