Sedgwick County Deputy Hurt At Shooting Range
Associated Press - Thu 03:36 PM 06/21/2012
A Sedgwick County sheriff's recruit suffered minor injuries at the county's shooting range.
Sedgwick County Lt. Mark Pierce says the 26-year-old recruit was wounded Thursday in the upper leg when he was hit by a small piece of metal during a training exercise. It isn't known if the metal was part of a bullet that ricocheted
or part of the target system's frame.
The current target system is 18 years old and is scheduled to be replaced next month.
Pierce says the piece of metal was just under the skin of the recruit's leg. He was treated and released at a Wichita hospital.
