Summer Sizzle: Dangerous Heat Begins Week
KSAL Staff - Mon 08:48 AM 06/25/2012
Dangerous heat is in the forecast to begin the week.
The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a heat advisory for the Salina area for Monday afternoon into the evening hours. High temperatures are forecast to be in the low 100s with heat indices in the 110 degree range.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and humidity will create conditions where heat illnesses are possible.
Officials says it's best to avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day. If you must be outside, it is best to drink lots of fluids, particularly water. You should also try to avoid being in direct sunlight.
Officials also remind that the heat is just as dangerous for animals. Pet owners are urged to make sure their animals are properly cared for. Outside animals need to have a source of shade, and plenty of fresh water.

I wish knights of Columbus would cancel their k/1st grade games scheduled for today and tomorrow. It's WAY to hot for the little kids to play at 6. The y cancelled their games. Kids could get hurt in this heat.

Wish I knew who to contact to talk about it. I know it's an inconvenience but the little ones don't understand not to go 110% because it's hot.
