1992 Falcons Meet Again This Weekend

A championship team from 20 years ago is gathering for a reunion this weekend.
The 1992 Salina Falcons won the second annual Grand Slam tournament and went on to claim the Class AAA state championship, in a tournament also played at Dean Evans Stadium.
The team will gather at Dean Evans Stadium on Saturday for a team photo around 3pm, and will be introduced during a ceremony between the Salina Hawks game and the Salina Falcons game, scheduled for around 7:45pm.
In the 1992 season, the Falcons defeated the Lawrence Outlaws 5-0 to claim the Grand Slam title. Back at Dean Evans Stadium a few weeks later, the Falcons knocked off Olathe 12-2 to claim the AAA state championship.
The Falcons went on to play in the Central Plains Region 6 tournament in Omaha, Nebraska, finishing third with an 8-6 loss to eventual regional champion Fargo, North Dakota. The Falcons finished the season with a mark of 41-19.
The 1992 state championship was the second straight state title for the Falcons.
The 1992 team consisted of coaches Tim Puvogel, Bill Klug and Dee Kolzow. Players included: Brent Rupert, David Meares, Andy Weaver, Jason Jennings, Damon McKinney, Chris Lambert, Brad Plummer, Cam Guthrie, Jimmie Lund, Bryan Heinrich, Mark Howey, Kevin Grennan, Scott Rohr, Drew Oliver, Matt Porter, Mark Mosier, Tyler Olson and Brandon Robinson.
