Falcons Split Games in Day One of Kansas Grand Slam

Day one of the Kansas Grand Slam proved tough at times for Salina's Legion teams.
The Salina Falcons split their two games on Saturday, downing Great Bend 10-4 in the afternoon before falling to defending champion Millard North, Neb., 9-1. The Falcons opened Pool A play in the 19-and-under division 1-1.
Daniel O'Brien pitched a complete game against Great Bend. Seven different Falcons picked up a pair of hits in the opener.
The Salina Hawks picked up a four-inning no-hitter from Tyler McElwee as they run-ruled Rock Creek 11-0. The Hawks play twice today to wrap up pool play in the 17-and-under division.
The Salina Eagles fell by run-rule to Manhattan Manko, 10-1. The Eagles play twice on Sunday as well.
