An arrest is made following two vehicle burglaries.

Michelle Miller, 34 of 923 Cedar, is the owner of a 1994 Ford four door, and Robert Summers, 68 of 925 Cedar, owner of a 1998 Ford four door were the victims of vehicle burglary.

The Salina Police Department was sent to the area after a witness had seen the suspect get in the 1994 Ford. The witness gave authorities a description of the suspect.

The suspect was found and began running away. He was asked to please stop, and continued running, beginning a foot chase through the neighborhood. Police found sunglasses and a case thrown down on the ground from the burglary before finding James Valleroy, 26 of 755 Comanche, behind a garage in the 400 block of Montroes.

Valleroy was charged with two counts of vehicle burglary, theft, and felony interference of law enforcement.

Neither of the vehicles were locked.

Let's see what awaits him at the sheriff's K Motel. Air conditioned cell, 3 squares a day, free cable tv and even snacks. No wonder these guys like it down there. If the sheriff could bring in some women from the truck stop life would be great for these losers. We need a new sheriff that believes in chain gangs and working these guys 8 hours a day in 100 degree heat. Bet they sure would not want to go to jail again after months of hard work.

Well, any hopes and dreams of a chain gang, which I'm all for, will not be happening anytime soon. Not unless we get some new Commissioners (City/County)!!! The trustees are no longer able to go out and do any type of volunteer work in the community, not unless an organization wants to pay $5.00 an hour for the time of the inmate---paid to the County/City, not sure on that part. I also do not know if the inmate sees any of the money, this is a new ordinance I heard that recently came into affect that I never heard about, did anyone else hear about this?? I could have missed it in the news. So, consequently, any non-profit, like the Red Cross, that was allowed to use the inmates/trustees for help, will no longer be getting them!!! How bout this Sheriff K, any truth to this or was this a rumor I heard?? Getalife, you bet, why would they not want to be in jail, they have better accommodations and meals than many of our Senior citizens do!!
