The Big 12 Conference has announced its schedule on ESPN's Big Monday platform for the 2013 conference season, highlighting a slate that will include more than 100 games on the ESPN Networks.
The continuation of the long-standing and popular arrangement with ESPN will tip off on Monday, January 14 with Baylor traveling to Kansas. The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. doubleheader will take place for the third consecutive season the next week. Four Big 12 teams will be in action, starting with Oklahoma State at Baylor at 4:30 p.m. The second Big 12 contest that day will have Texas traveling to Oklahoma.
West Virginia hosts its first Big Monday game as a member of the Big 12 when Kansas travels to Morgantown on January 28. It will be the first all-time meeting between the schools. The Mountaineers will host Big Monday for the second straight week on February 4 when Texas comes to town. The Longhorns have won two of the three all-time matchups between the schools.
A meeting in the Sunflower State Showdown will take place in Lawrence on February 11, followed by Kansas State welcoming Bob Huggins back to Manhattan when WVU plays at K-State on February 18. Iowa State hosts its first Big Monday game since January 9, 2006 (vs. Texas) on February 25 when it faces Kansas at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones knocked off the No. 5 Jayhawks, 72-64, in Ames a year ago. Texas hosts Baylor in the final matchup of the slate on March 4. The two teams have split their last four meetings.
The Big 12 has been ranked among the top three conferences in RPI each of the past five seasons - the only league that can make that claim. In addition, the Big 12 boasts the nation's best winning percentage in NCAA Tournament competition over the past five years. The full composite conference schedule, including games on CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, Big 12 Network and ESPN's College GameDay, will be released in the coming weeks.
