Washington Won't Push Gun Laws This Year
Associated Press - Fri 08:27 AM 07/27/2012
The White House says President Barack Obama will not push for stricter gun laws this election year.
Just one day ago Obama spoke passionately about the need to keep assault weapons off the streets, suggesting that he might plunge into that political fight and challenge Congress to act. Instead, Obama's stand on the government's role is right where it was after the mass shooting in Colorado last week: Enforce existing law better.
That is same view held by his Republican opponent, Mitt Romney, as both reach for broader and more politically appealing ways to keep guns away from killers.
Obama still wants Congress to reinstitute a federal ban on military-style assault weapons. But his spokesman, Jay Carney, says the president is not and has not been pushing for that ban.

He may not pursue it before elections, but he will pursue it. He recently approached the UN (a month or two ago) to formally change US's position on gun control. It's worth looking into the details if you are not familiar with the situation.

It's all smoke and mirrors people.... he just wants to be re-elected, and by going all 'anti-gun-ownership" right now would just seal his fate. Mark my words... Obama will either pull the plug on guns and ammo immediately if he is re-elected, or he will make it nearly impossible and expensive for law abiding citizens to own them. That or there will be so many hoops to jump through and some'big-brother' program watching gun buyers that people will not want to buy one. He thinks he can do anything he wants to if re-elected and I guarantee he will try. Obamma CAN NOT be re-elected. If you are like Obama and you think gun ownership is the problem, and not the people with problems that own guns?? Then YOU my friend are part of the problem.

To the gun nut lobbyists barking how Obama or any other politician is going to take your assault rifles and 2nd amendment rights away. The NRA has TOTALLY taken Washington hostage! The real fight will eventually be to stop the special interest attack perpetrated upon our elected representatives by the NRA. If we Americans think we need this overwhelming firepower in order to protect our civil liberties then this same firepower should be sufficient to defend the homeland from chinks, spiks, homos or any other invading vermin. A hefty cut in the defense budget is mandatory.

Always amazes me. The same people who call me a gun nut for having anything larger than a .22 are the very folks who defend the law which allows the killing of unwanted babies. Just doesn't make sense. Law abiding gun owners are threatened by baby killers......strange.
