You cannot tell the fair is underway. No media coverage then some horse's butt on the fair board schedules the parade a day early for no reason. Then the parade was as bad as last year its time to get a fresh set of people on the fair board.

You got that right and changing the day of the parade was another stupid move by the fairboard. Someone needs to be accountable for that. Wonder if they got enought guts to admit it?

I was inside a vehicle pulling one of the 4-H floats. I can tell you, having been at that parade for the last ten years, there were lots more people there watching than in years past so evidently it WAS advertised. And the whole reason it was moved to the evening hours was for the good of everyone involved. The heat in past years has been a real danger, not to mention a fun-killer. It was so much better for everyone, participants AND spectators, to do it in the evening. And no, I am not on the fair board.

A simple change of the time from from 5 to 6 on Wednesday would have worked. They lucked out on Tuesday but it has been 95 to 100 degrees every evening this year. The parade is suppose to be part of opening night of the fair you go to the parade then on to the fair grounds to attend the fair and carnival. All one could do this year is go home.

I guess it is easy to criticize when you have no involvement in something and no idea of all the activities involved that have to be considered in scheduling. As a 4-H club leader, all I have heard is high praise for the change....you can never make everyone happy all the time and some folks you will never make happy ever because complaining is their life.
