Salina Women Hurt In Wabaunsee County Crash
KSAL Staff - Sat 08:04 PM 08/11/2012
Two people from Salina are hurt in a single-car crash in Wabaunsee County caused by a drowsy driver.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Lisa Platt was driving a car west on Interstate 70 when she fell asleep. The car went into a broad slide, then went into the median and overturned two times. It came to rest on its wheels in the median.
Platt and a passenger, 18-year-old Raimie Platt, were both hurt. They were transported to a Topeka hospital. Troopers say that both were buckled up.
The crash happened at 3:45 Saturday morning on I-70 in Wabaunsee County about a mile west of K-99 Highway.

Perhaps trying to come home from a trip they had taken. Driving at this hour of the morning is risky if your body is normally sleeping at this time. I have never understood how/why people "fall asleep" when driving!! If your are getting tired/drowsy STOP and rest!! It irritates me when people put other lives in danger that may be on the road too. I'm sorry for them, and I hope they will both recover from this. They should feel lucky they did not ruin other lives with this accident.

Hey t-bone why would you be driving at 3:45 in the morning when you are tired and put your passenger at risk. People don't pull over when they are tired and put the lives of other people at risk. Who made this woman God to make that kind of decision to put her passenger or other peoples lives in jeopardy. This ladies license needs to be taken away so she isn't a danger to anyone!

Oh yea let's take away everyone's license that sure will solve the problem. People that drive alot run into from time to time and are smart enought to pull over. Rookies do not realize that they should and accidents happen. In this case she should of pulled into a motel and left early in the morning.

So no consequences should be done to this lady. Let her get in again and do the same thing but this time maybe she kill who is with her or maybe someone we know or one of our loved ones. Sorry I really dont want to take a chance with that one!

175 evidently you do not learn from your mistakes. This was a terrible accident for her an I doubt very much if she would ever push herself again.

lam yes people learn from mistakes and it was a horrible accident and she could have killed other people. This is not the first time. How many chances do you think people should get. Keep going till she kills someone and then you think she learned!

Just so all you know, her precious daughter is very ill and was currently on chemo 175! Her daughter and her had been shopping all day in KC! There are millions of people that travel that late! After they were done, the daughter had been throwing up the whole way back..and just wanted to get home! Her mom, was just trying to get her home! And do you realize 175 they are both seriously injured, and you are just so rude, because you have nothing else to do with your life! She is a fantastic momma to her kids, just trying to make her sick child feel better! Obviously you need help 175! All you wanted to do was run your mouth, instead of saying "man I'm glad they survived"

Rkate, I am terribly sorry for them both!! Having dealt with family and chemo I know how terrible it is to go through. My prayers are truly with them and their family. However, the daughter being in this situation should have been all the more reason for them to have stopped, gotten a motel or stayed with friends somewhere for the evening. This terrible tragedy would have been compounded had another person traveling been involved in the accident. I do not think the license needs pulled, I suspect this horrible incident has opened some eyes, and perhaps any future trips that are needed will involve other family/friends to help this poor woman with the driving. God bless them both, I do pray they will be ok, and, I am grateful they did survive.

Hey RKate. Have any children? I do. I have several and several that drive. So if she falls asleep and if you have any loved ones and she kills them or kills my children then what do you have to say about that. You are the one that has no life or regards to any other lives out there. If you are tired pull over no ifs and buts. I hope to God that no sleepy driver ever falls asleep and kills one of your family members. If they do what do you have to say then? And by the way me being rude don't say things about situations you don't know. I was unfortunate to lose a brother to a driver that was tired. I don't want to ever see another one gone for someone being a complete idiot!!!!

175 you are not God. People in this world are subject of being killed every day. Those people at the movie in Colorado did think they would get killed. You or no one else or any law will not keep this from happening. Sometimes things happen to people and they do not think rationally as they normally would.

175131 who are you to judge other people? Your children can pull something while driving and texting and kill themselves or someone else so how would you stop that sitting at home? Your children can make a mistake and can kill someone else just like anyone else can so your argument makes little sense. Get your head out of the sand and look at the reality of all of this.
