150 iPads Stolen From Kansas School
Associated Press - Tue 06:18 AM 08/14/2012
A north-central Kansas high school is out 150 new iPads after a break-in at its computer lab.
Whoever stole the iPads from Phillipsburg High School also took 160 iPad chargers plus 90 cases for the tablet computers.
The Phillips County Sheriff's department says the break-in happened sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. last Thursday.
Phillipsburg High School has about 200 students. Classes are scheduled to start Aug. 20.
USD 325 superintendent Michael Gower says the iPads were going to be distributed at the high school as part of a new classroom initiative. Gower says the district will transfer iPads from the elementary school to the high school until insurance can cover the loss.

Well most highschools now days have cameras in every hallway. Im supprised this classroom door was not well watched. It seems this should be a easy find. Once the someone opens and turns the computers on the IP should be trackable.

Yeah, I want to think that ipads have a tracking device inside them....I could be wrong though. It would be foolish for someone to steal that many and try to re-sell them anywhere.

Not so depends on where they end up and what is done with them. The people in charge are supposed to be teaching our kids and once again they show us how ignorant they are.

I'm sure that the school has all the serial numbers on them but it is just a shame that some idiot (s) had to steal them just before school started. I know that part of the school fees went for the students to be able to take them home to work on and now others will be shorted the chance to use them. It will be nice to hear about it when the AS*&$@&s get caught!!!!! GETALIFE674... The teachers must have had them out up loading things on them and getting them ready for students to use. WHO KNOWS ( other than the ones that stole them)

The problem I have is the real teaching has gone down the tubes. Computers are great if the users already know how to read, do math and have an over all basic education. This is not happening the students are dependant on these devices and when the device fails these students cannot do anything. The schools are making it so these students are to dependent on electronics and they are not doing the teaching they should be.
