Man Impersonates Officer At National Guard Center
KSAL Staff - Wed 10:50 AM 08/15/2012
A homeless man is arrested after allegedly impersonating an officer at the National Guard training center in Salina.
Police say that 35-year-old Eric Warkentine entered the Great Plains Joint Training Center facility on Monday, and claimed to be a Lieutenant who was staying there. Warkentine, who initially had on civilian clothes, came under suspicion when he was later seen wandering around barefoot in a soldier's uniform that was too small for him.
It was determined that he was not in the military, and had taken the uniform and dogtags from a room at the facility.
Warkentine was booked into the Saline County Jail on charges that could include identity theft, criminal trespass, and aggravated burglary.
