A man is accused of beating his 44-year-old stepson with several tools, including a hammer, pliers and a screwdriver.
The Wichita Eagle reports police were called to Wesley Medical Center a little before 9 p.m. Friday where the victim, who has Down syndrome, was being treated for broken fingers, a hematoma to his head and other injuries.
The stepfather was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery. Police Sgt. Scott Brunow says the attack happened in a home where the two men lived.
Brunow says the victim was taken to the hospital by his 41-year-old brother.

What a brave S.O.B. A Downs syndrome patient beaten. The law needs to stay out of this, turn this coward loose with a bunch of gay sex offenders at Larned State U.

I cannot believe anyone would mistreat a Downs-Syndrome person... ALL I know of are happy-go-lucky, not-a-care-in-the-world, don't-know-an-enemy people. We as a Society could learn from them... and as a Society we had better make sure this is taken care of. I will bet if this victim were asked today what his assailant deserved, he'd probably recommend icecream. Who in the world would think of something this bizarre? Makes me sick.

I read on Salina post this guy that did this was 37yrs old!! What the hell was this poor downs syndrome man's mother doing marrying an idiot younger than her son!!! I think this mother should be investigated also, makes you wonder if she is/has been providing the right care for this young man. If she was married to a guy that is this abusive and most likely they are receiving quite a bit of government assistance for his care, I would be wondering if the funds and assistance they are receiving is being spent on him like it should be!!! I used to work with special olympics years ago, these people are some of the most loving, thoughtful and kind people I have ever had the pleasure to be around. Bob, you are right, they do not know an enemy, they tend to trust EVERYONE, I have often thought to myself, in some ways they ARE VERY LUCKY!! God bless him, and his brother for seeking the help he needed for him.
