Police make an arrest after a hit and run accident Monday.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, officers arrested 19-year old Ronald F. Rummel of Wakeeney on Monday evening, about an hour after he allegedly drove away from a three car accident on North Broadway near the viaduct at Ash.

Police say at about 5:13pm, Rummel was driving a 1984 Porsche northbound on Broadway when he clipped the left rear end of a truck driven by 57-year old Richard Turner.

Turner's 2007 Nissan pickup then swung left and was hit broadside by a southbound car driven by 55-year old Michael Brothwick.

Turner was transported to Salina Regional Health Center by EMS for observation, there were no other injuries.

Siemsen tells KSAL News that Rummel was found walking near the scene of the accident at about 6:15pm and was holding a can of beer.

He is facing charges that include reckless driving, hit and run, failure to give aid, and minor in possession of alcohol.

Bet he doesn't have insurance either. Glad our local cops did not report seat belt usage.
