Critics Say Kansas Death Penalty Law Must Go
Associated Press - Sat 08:17 PM 09/01/2012
A leading critic of the Kansas death penalty says the latest reversal of a conviction serves as reason enough for the state to abolish capital punishment.
Kansas Coalition Against the Death Penalty chairwoman Donna Schneweis says the Kansas Supreme Court has found flaws with each of the six death penalty appeals it has heard since the law took effect in 1994. She says the state should repeal the law to avoid any chance of an error getting by the courts and an innocent person being executed.
The coalition is pushing for life without parole to replace death by lethal injection.
Policymakers say there's slim chance of the law changing. They argue the law is narrowly written to protect society and that the reversals are part of ensuring justice.

These people never had a loved one killed or they would not be pushing this. Mistakes sometimes happen that is why the killers are not taken from the court room to the electric chair or to get an injection.

Keep the death penalty. Public execution like the taliban do would be a great deterrent for future murderers.

Yes, we need to go back to Saturday afternoon hangings on the courthouse lawns. If the scum see that, maybe crime would slow...

We need to enforce the death penalty, if enough people get executed maybe the crime will slow. FYI the country that has the lowest crime rate is Sweden, cause in that country if you shop lift the punishment is loss of a hand, They just cut it off, that is what we need here stricter laws, not soft, slap on the hand put in a hotel where you get 3 square a day and tv pluse recreation time in a gym. It is just sickining.

Summary of what I want to say: Poor argument on Schneweis' part as everyone sentenced to death in Kansas is deserving of the punishment. She should focus on cost, but is would still be saddled with the Carr brothers.
