Kansas Agency Hosting Safe School Conference

The Kansas Division of Emergency Management and other state agencies are holding a conference later this month on school safety and preparedness.
About 300 people are expected at the fifth annual Kansas Safe and Prepared Schools Conference, taking place Sept. 24 and 25 in Topeka.
The conference is designed for educators, administrators, first responders and emergency management personnel. Topics include natural disasters, suicide prevention, bullying, youth sports concussions and reducing sexual and domestic violence.
Lessons from the tornadoes that struck Harveyville, Kan., and Joplin, Mo., are also on the agenda.
