Salina Central and Maize traded touchdowns back and forth, but, in the end, it was the Eagles getting a 28-21 win over the Mustangs Friday night.

Salina Central and Maize traded touchdowns back and forth, but, in the end, it was the Eagles getting a 28-21 win over the Mustangs Friday night.

Salina Central wasted no time getting on the scoreboard driving 80 yards on just three plays to take an early 7-0 lead. Maize also scored on its opening possession to tie the game. A Mustang turnover followed by a missed filed goal attempt by the Eagles kept the score 7-7 after the opening quarter.

Maize took their first in the second quarter and made the score 14-7, but Salina Central answered to tie the game once again at 14-14.

After a halftime tie and a scoreless third quarter, Maize reclaimed the lead 21-14 midway through the final period. Salina Central knotted the score 21-21. After trading possessions late in the game, the Eagles scored the winning touchdown in the final seconds for a 28-21 victory on their homecoming night.
