A Salina Police Officer is recovering after being shot in the face early Friday.

A fund has been established for family members of Officer Chuck Huehn. Monetary donations for the “Chuck Huen Relief Fund” can be made in person at both Bennington State Bank locations in Salina, on South Ohio Street and on 9th Street. Donations can also be made via phone by contacting Debra Andrews at Bennington State Bank at 785-827-5522.

Officer Huen was shot in the face early Friday morning while responding to a call regarding a stolen car, and a man armed with a handgun. Huen is a 10 year veteran of the Salina Police Department.

The last officer injured in a shooting in Salina happened back in 1986.

such a senseless act I wish him a speedy recovery , the shooter must have been mentally ill or on drugs if he was sucidial doesn't justifi trying to kill others glad the shooter had the guts to take himself out

evidently the injury was not severe if he is home. The police carry very good insurance so he will be taken care of it that aspect.
