The winner of the 2011 Juilliard Violin Competition will perform in Salina on Sunday.
Violinist, Siwoo Kim, will step on stage at the Stiefel Theatre - and open the the 57th season of the Salina Symphony.
Maestro Ken Hakoda stopped into the KSAL Morning News Thursday with a look at preparations for Sunday's concert. "Siwoo lands today and we'll have a rehearsal tonight, and we're all very excited to do this."
"I think people will be amazed," he said.
Salina Symphony Executive Director, Adrienne Allen tells KSAL News that Siwoo Kim will be reaching out to young musicians in Salina tomorrow.
"He'll be going to both middle schools and to Kansas Wesleyan to work with the students," she said.
Hakoda says the students will see his gift of music - play out before their very eyes, "This goes way beyond typical playing," he said.
"Sometime I play instruments for youth symphony kids to show this is how it goes. But he'll take the same instrument and do way more."
Season tickets may be purchased at the Symphony Office at 151 S. Santa Fe or by calling 785 823 8309. Single admission is $25 for adults and $15 for students.
