Salina Central scored on its opening drive and went on for a 26-0 shutout win against Andover Central Friday night.

The Salina Central Mustangs snapped a three-game skid on Friday night, shutting out Andover Central 26-0 at Salina Stadium.

The Mustangs opened the game with an impressive drive, covering 60-yards. Nathan Garlow punched in the first score from six-yards out, giving Salina Central a 6-0 lead after a failed two-point conversion attempt.

Both teams would struggle to put points on the board despite 10-plus play, six minute drives. Late in the second quarter, Andover Central's Lucas Milner would fumble, and the Mustangs' Austin Palmateer recovered at the 47.

On the next play, Malik Veal looked like he was stacked up in the middle, but broke a tackle, cut to the right and found the edge, going 47-yards for the score, putting the Mustangs up 13-0 at halftime.

The teams played a scoreless third quarter before Salina Central struck twice in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs capped a 10-play drive with Garlow's 15-yard touchdown run, putting the Mustangs up 19-0 after a failed extra point.

Andover Central went four-and-out on the next drive, and the Mustangs put the game away on a 1-yard run by Mark Vaughn, expanding the lead to 26-0.

Veal led the Mustangs with 112 yards and a touchdown. Garlow had 72 yards and two touchdowns.

The Mustangs are now 2-4 and will be the visitors in next week's game against cross-town rival Salina South.
