Salina South Defeats Newton 40 -10

The Salina South Cougars rolled to a 40 - 10 victory over the Newton Railers Friday night.
The Cougars scored on their first three possessions to take a commanding 21 point lead, and never looked back. The Cougars lead 33 - 3 at halftime.
Newton's lone first half points came on a short field goal as time was winding down.
Both team scored just one touchdown in the second half. Newton scored on a long touchdown pass. South scored on a Justin Stonebraker to Zach Nachbar touchdown pass.
Midway through the third quarter the Cougars began subbing mulitple younger players into the game.
Unofficially, Stonebraker was 8 - 11 passing for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Zach Nachbar caught both touchdown passes.
On the ground, Cody Busby carried 7 times for 123 yards. He also returned a punt 64 yards for a touchdown. Mike Jones carried 10 times for 129 yards, including an 84 yard touchdown run.
The Cougars are now 5 - 1 on the season, and face cross-town rival Salina Central next Friday night at Salina Stadium.
