High School Sports: Soccer, Volleyball Teams in Action

The Salina Central boys soccer team cruises to a 4-1 win over Andover. Damion Cooper and Erik Arias each had two goals in the victory. The Mustangs are 12-2 and host Maize South on Thursday.

The Salina South boys soccer team was shut out 2-0 by Newton. The Cougars are 4-9-1 and finish AVCTL Division I play 0-6. They play at Andover on Thursday.

The Salina Central volleyball team splits its matches, falling to Newton 25-23, 25-23, before defeating Hutchinson 25-19, 26-24. The Mustangs are 27-11 and 8-3 in AVCTL Division I.

Salina South lost a pair of league matches, losing to Derby 25-22, 25-21 before dropping a match to Campus 21-25, 25-23, 25-15. The Cougars are 8-28 and 1-9 in AVCTL Division I.

Southeast of Saline took a pair of matches from Ellsworth, winning 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20, 25-12. Southeast is 24-8 and 9-1 in the NCAA.

Ell-Saline sweeps Beloit and Canton-Galva. The Cardinals defeated Beloit 25-22, 25-12 and Canton-Galva 25-18, 25-17. Ell-Saline is the top-ranked team in Class 2A in the latest coaches poll. Ell-Saline is 24-3 on the year.
