KCK home found empty hours after standoff begins

AP News - Mon 12:48 AM 10/15/2012

Kansas City, Kansas, police waited several hours outside a house where they thought a murder suspect had taken cover, but later discovered the house was empty.

Police responding to a call found a young man lying in a driveway around 4 a.m. Sunday suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

KSHB reports officers pursued a suspect to a nearby home, which they surrounded and used a loud speaker in an effort to coax the person outside.

Police entered the home around 11:45 a.m., and more than three hours later they declared the home empty and the suspect still at large.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released, nor was a description of the suspect.

if it took three hours to declare the house empty, that must be one big old house or else they sent in a bunch of rookies and or they're rejects from spd. they must have forgot to keep[ an eye out on the back of the house ;]

Well its better than sending unprotected cops in the house to get shot like the Salina PD did recently.
