Police say 250-feet of 2.5-inch wire worth $7,500 was among a number of items stolen.

Thousands of dollars of wire is damaged and stolen from a Salina lot.

According to Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield, four spools of wire that were being stored by Wilson Auctions at 601 S. Broadway, were stolen sometime between Sunday at 10pm and Monday afternoon around 4pm.

Police say several spools of wire and coax cable were taken, while a 500-foot spool of 4-inch pressurized wire worth $22,500 was damaged beyond repair when it was cut.

Thieves also cut a metal chain to gain access to the lot.

Total loss and damage is listed at $37,005.

Good luck catching these guys. Heck they never caught the guys coming down Crawford street with a spool on the top of the car. The Barney Fife deputy could not catch them. Could be the same guys.

What really happened? Is this the best journalism KSAL can put out? Did anyone bother to call Wilson Auctions for more detail? No, just copy exactly what the police want to release and leave it at that. What precautions did Wilson take to secure the spools? How did the thief or thieves defeat the security? I mean, give us something more interesting than "According to Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield said . . . . " Mind numbingly boring.

Don't even think about starting that crap with me. You think everyone is someone else and spend all your time trying to pick fights with people like a little punk. Nobody gives a damn what you have to say from reading all the past posts. I sure don't give a flip what you think. Fop off.

This does sound suspicious to me!! Inside job no doubt, he hires some of those guys that don't look or act like they have brains enough to brush their teeth without being told. If Lonnie would pay a little better wages, he would get better help!!!

Actually the thief with the spool of wire was caught, and by law enforcement, it was a deputy who happened to be in the right spot at the right time. This could've been a SPD also. STOP slamming law enforcement. Just move out of the STATE, you are a worthless waist of tax dollars!!

ok gaspasser/victory I do not know which spool of wire you are referring to but the wire that was on top of the car that Barney Fife failed to catch are still at large.

Being a little hard on Lonnie granny he does have some really nice employees down there but as any business you do hire some that do not work out. There are camera's inside the building hopefully he had some outside as well and the public can capture the crooks.
