Worker Hurt In Salina Industrial Accident

A person is recovering following a Wednesday morning accident in the South Salina Industrial Area.

Emergency responders were sent to PKM Steel at 228 E Avenue A at around 6:30 in the morning. Initial reports were that a man was pinned between some equipment.

PKM Steel Chief Operating Officer Mark Hamade tells KSAL News that an employee suffered a leg injury. He says that the exact circumstances as to what happened are still under investigation.

The employee is expected to make a full recovery.

Hamade adds that "safety is very important to us", saying that they take every injury, no matter how small or large, very seriously.

PKM STEEL SERVICE INC., is a great place to work & I can't comment about 20 years ago but I can say ownership cares about the staff & safety has always been paramount. Is it dangerous job? Yes it is, but so is crossing the street. We provide a safe and healthful workplace for our staff. We encourage continual improvement in workplace safety and health.
