Saline County Sheriff deputies conducted an alcohol and tobacco sting over the weekend.
According to the Sheriff's Office, on Saturday, three area store clerks sold alcohol to minors while one was cited for selling cigarettes to a minor.
Deputies, along with agents from the Alcoholic Beverage Control and Tobacco Enforcement departments, visited 25 area businesses attempting to purchase alcohol with participants who are under the legal age.
One clerk at the Dillons Store, 2012 S. Ohio, was cited for selling a six-pack of beer, while a clerk at Pilot Truck Plaza, 1944 N. 9th, was cited for selling a six-pack to a minor. A clerk at Brooks Liquor, 1845 S. 9th was also cited for selling a bottle of bourbon to a minor.
The controlled buy program also visited 11 area stores, seeking to purchase tobacco products. A clerk at The Corner Store, 220 W. Crawford was sited for selling a pack of cigarettes to a minor.
The program is paid for by a grant from the Central Kansas Foundation.

With all the unsolved cases they spend time setting up business's. I am still waiting for all the arrests from the labor day brawl at Brookville the the sheriff promised.

They ae not setting up any business but ensure the employees are following laws in place. If you can read 25 businesses were checked and four citations were issued. That means the rest were in complaince and following the rules. Far as labor day brawl you better start watching the warrants page. No one died so I doubt it was a felony and at this point warrants would be requested and it would be up to the county attorney to decide if charges are going to be pursued. Now go find a hole please.

Hey kissmynut the sheriff is only there to collect a pay check. Instead of looking for criminals as suggested he is out sending underage kids in to buy booze. If they are not underage then he is giving them a false id which is also a crime. You cannot break the law to enforce the law. The brawl on labor day should have been resolved by now and passing the buck to to inept county attorney is an excuse. One guy was arrested and he turned himself in so whoopee for the sheriff.
