NE Kan. man killed along highway in hit-and-run
AP News - Mon 04:34 AM 10/29/2012
Investigators are looking for a vehicle that struck and killed a 21-year-old northeast Kansas man who was killed on a highway about two miles east of Manhattan.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office says witnesses saw a white, smaller SUV crossover or large sedan run over the man around midnight Saturday and continue without stopping.
The Sheriff's Office says the victim, from Manhattan, Kan., was wearing dark clothes and in an unlit area, so it's possible the car's driver didn't know anyone had been struck.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance tapes of traffic in the area at the time.
The name of the victim wasn't being released Sunday night.

I feel sorry for the individual's family and friends and my prayers go out to them. But I do not buy that the driver did not know that they had hit anyone. I have hit a raccoon while driving at night, and there is a definite sound when you hit an animal so I would think that there would be an even louder sound if you hit a person. I would agree that the driver did not see the person before they hit them and probably would not have received a ticket, but now they have a hit and run.

Raccoon were you in the area when this happened? Big difference between a small suv and or a large sedan.
