KSAL Staff - Mon 06:43 PM 10/29/2012
Police are investigating a possible case of arson in southwest Salina.
According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, officers were sent to the 500 block of Venus on Saturday afternoon around 3:30pm after a decorative planter on a porch was set on fire.
The homeowner told police that she saw a white male on her porch with a backpack, and believed he was leaving behind some political literature for her to read.
She did not make contact with him, but when she went outside a short time later, saw that her deorative nail keg planter was on fire.
Police say some of the siding on the house was also damaged.
Total cost of the damage is estimated at about $118.

Good question if someone is on your porch and you are to scared to open the door then call the cops. Supposed the Guy broke into the house what would she have done?

People need to be proactive, when there is something strange, CALL POLICE IMMEDIATELY!!! So what if it had been a salesman or political person, anyone lurking around on my porch better have a good reason!! You should NEVER open the door to anyone you do not know or cannot tell what they are actually doing!! Can't trust people anymore, the criminal element are always thinking up new ways to get what they want!!
