Bishop Carroll Defeats South 45 - 21

The Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles used two crucial defensive stops to pull away for a 45-21 win over Salina South in a Class 5A semifinal in Wichita.
The Cougars scored on the opening drive on a 29 yard run by Cody Busby for the 7-0 lead.
Carroll answered right back with Zeke Palmer's 59 yard scoring pass to Matt Denning to tie the game at 7.
The Eagles took the lead early in the second quarter on Palmer's one yard run to go up 14-7.
Carroll made it a two score game on Jalen Hernandez's 14 yard run, making it 21-7.
Anthony Troilo intercepted Justin Stonebraker's pass inside the Carroll 20 with less than a minute to play in the half, setting up a drive that led to Daniel Ohm's 28 yard field goal as the first half expired, putting Carroll up 24-14.
After a scoreless third quarter, Carroll put the game away on a 4th down touchdown pass from Palmer to Denning from 22 yards out, putting Carroll up 31-14, leading to an onslaught late as Carroll pulled away.
Mike Jones added a late 89 yard touchdown run, for the 45-21 final.
The Cougars end the season at 10-2. In the game, Busby went over 4,000 yards rushing in his career.
Carroll will play Bishop Miege for the Class 5A state title next week.
