Video Captures Possible Car Theft
Jeff Garretson - Thu 10:44 AM 12/06/2012
A Salina business reports a stolen vehicle.
Police say staff at the Car Shoppe, 432 N. Broadway, contacted SPD after an inventory revealed that a model year 2000, Dodge Durango was missing.
Owners reviewed video tape from the lot and saw someone taking the dark blue vehicle for a test drive on November 7th.
The police report was filed December 4th, and the vehicle is valued at $5,500.

The vehicle was taken for a test drive on Nov. 7th, and reported stolen on Dec. 4th? Is it just me, or is there something wrong with this picture?

Additionally, who valued this vehicle at $5,500.? We purchased a 2006 Dodge Durango for $4,500.00 two years ago.

@MyPostinID, If you got an '06 Durango for 4,500, That was either a steal or there was something wrong with it. Kelly blue book says in excellent condition now an '06 is worth 11,000

RitchieStans, it is all in how you purchase. Spent months seeking the right deal, drove north of KC to the dealership, checked out the vehicle, knew the transmission needed flushed (common in these vehicles) the vehicle needed tires, and a new battery. Dealership garenteed the transmission for three months. We offered cash, all these things can bring down the price of a used vehicle. Yes, we got a deal, we did the search, took the drive, did the inspection, made the offer, and brought the Dodge home. Have not had a problem with it at all.

Well then, I guess MyPostinID should know what it's worth. 5500 is probably KBB average value. I'm betting the car dealer didn't go to NKC and buy a crappy Durango with bad tires and tranny and place it on his lot. duh....

For you dummies who think KBB is the book for car prices you keep thinking so and relying on that. Car dealers and insurance companies use other outlets to determine value.

@MyPostinID, so you obviously got a car for a lot less than it was worth and therefore comparing how much you paid for your car and how much this car is worth is apples and oranges.
