Southeast Sweeps Wakefield, Full Slate on Tap Today

The Southeast of Saline girls opened the Herington tournament with a win over Wakefield on Thursday. The Trojans scored the first 14 points of the game and never trailed. Southeast led 25-15 at halftime and pushed the lead to 40-21 going to the fourth quarter. Freshman Erica Montgomery led Southeast of Saline with 19 points, while Heather Cleveland scored 15 points. The Trojans play Hope today at 4 o'clock with the winner advancing to the championship game on Saturday.
The Southeast of Saline boys started the Herington tournament with a win over Wakefield on Thursday. The Trojans led 19-11 after one, and pushed the lead to 10 at halftime. In the second half, Southeast of Saline built a 15-point lead early in the fourth quarter before Wakefield closed within six. Sam Koch put the game away with a dunk. Freshman Easton Montgomery led the Trojans with 16 points, while Ben Stutterheim added 12. The Trojans play Hope today at 5:30 with the winner advancing to the championship game on Saturday.
A full Friday of high school basketball is ahead today. All pregames begin at 5:50 with the girls to tip at 6 o'clock. Salina Central travels to Newton to meet the Railers on KSAL. Salina South head to Buhler, where the boys meet up with former South and Central head coach Denny Wahlgren on Y93.7. Our Area Game of the Week on Oldies 98.5 has Minneapolis at Bennington on True Oldies 98.5.
Ell-Saline continues play in the Morris/Stephens Tournament in Russell. The girls play Phillipsburg this afternoon and the boys take on Ellsworth in consolation action.
Sacred Heart plays its second day of tournament action in Chapman, facing Rossville. The girls tip at 3 with the boys to follow. We'll have it on KSAL.com on the Classic Hits 104.9 stream.

I ALWAYS SEE THE STORIES ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL, FOOTBALL, TENNIS, ETC. BUT I NEVER CAN FIND OUT HOW THE WRESTLING TEAMS DO, WHY IS THAT?
