Shoppers at the Salina Central Mall Sunday afternoon received an unexpected pleasant surprised when a group of about 60 people broke out into song.
The “flash mob” of singers was the brainchild of Salinan Kim Klucas. She tells KSAL news that she got the idea from several “flash mob” similar events that she saw online.
About 60 people participated in the event at the mall in Salina.
At about 12:30 a small group stood up in the food court and started to sing “Joy to the World”. Others then began to stand and join them. Before it was over, they also sang “Go Tell it On the Mountain” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”.
Klucas says that among the singers were students from Kansas Wesleyan University and Bethany College. Members of University United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, and Trinity United Methodist Church also participated.
The event had its desired effect, bringing smiles to the faces of those who saw it. Klucas says that she is very pleased with the outcome.
