New Year's Eve Snow Blankets Area
KSAL Staff - Mon 08:02 PM 12/31/2012
Snow blanketed a large portion of Kansas to ring in the New Year.
Snow that began falling New Year's Eve steadily accumulated throughout the day. It made for icy roads and dangerous driving conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snow fell in Southwest Kansas.
Snowfall amounts as of late Monday afternoon:
Richfield (Morton County) 10 inches
Garden City 8.5 inches
Osborne 8 inches
Concordia 7 inches
Hays 5 inches
Minneapolis 5 inches
Russell 4.5 inches
Great Bend 4.3 inches
Salina 4.1 inches
The falling snow that began early New Year's Eve was expected to taper off overnight, and be out of the area by late New Year's morning.

When are we going to get some more local news? There has not been a local story for many days. Is Todd not doing his job and if not why?

I have to agree, this web link has been pretty lame lately, more news from outside Salina, but not many new updates. I swear Ive seen the same story on here for the last 2-3 days. It doesn't take me long to go elsewhere to browse.....Time to step it up a bit KSAL...maybe the site is on autopilot during the holidays...LOL

Our staff works very hard at updating this web page every day. It might not always be in the form of news stories, but this site is updated with local information multiple times daily. Jail bookings, sports, weather information, state and local news. I would also recommend following us on Facebook. We update our Facebook page with local information multiple times a day as well.

I KNOW.........Maybe you could mention a seat belt check point.......OR....Write a Bi-center story....lol OR, write a story about the police or sheriffs department. .....Come on Todd, throw them a bone. All they want is to be able to beat their senseless comments into the ground. LOL
