Salina Central Sweeps Campus

The Salina Central Mustangs sweep the Campus Colts in their return to the court.
In the girls game, the Mustangs used a big third quarter to pull away to a 69-43 win.
The Mustangs built a quick 12-2 lead thanks to a 10-0 run, but Campus cut the lead to one twice in the second quarter. Central would not relinquish the lead, and rebuilt an eight point halftime lead at 32-24.
In the third quarter, Central pulled away, outscoring the Colts 20-8 to build as much as a 23 point lead. The Colts would get no closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
Emily Wood led the Mustangs with 16 points, matching a season high. Shaelyn Martin added 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Brooke Peters added a career-high 13 and MacKenzie Morris a career-best 11.
The Mustangs are now 5-2 overall and 3-1 in AVCTL Division I.
In the boys game, the Mustangs used an early run to key an easy 61-35 win.
The Mustangs used a 13-0 run from the 3:13 mark of the first quarter until the 7 minute mark of the second quarter, building an 18-6 lead. Campus pulled within nine at 18-9, but Central answered by pushing the lead back to double digits and wouldn't let the lead drop below 11 the rest of the way.
The Mustangs led 29-13 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Jordan McNelly took over, scoring 13 of his 15 points in the quarter, helping Central build as much as a 21-point lead at 46-25.
The Mustangs led by as much as 28 in the fourth quarter as they cruised to the win.
Jordan McNelly leads the team with 15 points while Max Kuhn adds 11.
The Mustangs are 4-3 overall and 3-1 in AVCTL Division I.
Salina Central is at Maize on Tuesday.
