An 18-year-old northeast Kansas high school student is hoping to be elected as a member of the school board in April after his history teacher told him he would be a good politician.
KSNT reports Chance Lammer is currently the only candidate running for a seat on the USD 450 school board. The Shawnee Heights High School junior says he would like to learn more about the political aspects of the position and will use a word-of-mouth campaign to get votes.
Lammer says the April election could be a foot-in-the-door opportunity that could lead to future political endeavors. He also believes he has an advantage over other candidates because of his status as a student who experiences first-hand the issues he would have to tackle as a board member.
The deadline for candidates to file to be on the ballot is Jan. 22.

Might as well let him do it, our city comission is the prime example of why you do not tell mentally handicapped people they can run for public office.
Aurora.

Evidently nobody has told him about a conflict of interest still being a student. Don't get me started on the city commission after reading their comments in the journal. Old Aaron better grab his but because he is going to be out of there so fast when his term is up and hopefully out of Salina entirely. An old Barb is a prime example of an air brain blonde who has alot of her own baggage to worry about. Lets not forget about Kaye who should be in a Nursing home rather than on the city commission.
