Sacred Heart made a big comeback to tie the score late in the game, but fell to Concordia by a point.
Down by 10 points in the fourth quarter, Sacred Heart made a big comeback to tie the score at 45-45, but fell to Concordia by a point, 46-45.
Sacred Heart took an early 4-0 lead on two Haley Rapp baskets. The Lady Knights held the lead until the end of the opening quarter, when Concordia took an 11-8 advantage.
As it would turn out, Concordia would not trail for the rest of the game. Sacred Heart tied the score at 18-18 late in the first half, but trailed 20-18 at halftime.
The Lady Panthers built their biggest advantage of ten points midway through the third quarter with the score 34-24 and led 36-31 going into the final quarter.
Sacred Heart was within two at 36-34 early in the final period, but a 9-1 Concordia run gave them another ten point lead at 45-35. The Lady Knights came all the way back to tie the score at 45-45, but a Nikki Blankenbeckley free throw turned out to be the margin of victory for Concordia.
The Lady Knights were led in scoring by Cara Donley with 20 points. Tracie Thibault scored 17 more in the losing effort. Sacred Heart will now play for seventh place at 3pm on Friday afternoon. The game can be heard on ksal.com.
