Salina Central and Sacred Heart boys pick up SIT wins on Thursday while Salina South falls to Andover

In the first game of the day, the Sacred Heart boys beat top-seeded Concordia to advance to Saturday's fifth-place game.

The Knights didn't lead in the game until early in the third quarter, but, after a big second-half run, held on for a 66-59 win.

Sacred Heart takes on Abilene at 3:45 Saturday and the game can be heard on ksal.com.

Salina Central continued its run for another SIT tournament championship with a 57-32 win over Clay Center. Trailing 23-16 at halftime, the Tigers' 7-for-9 effort at the free throw line kept the game close for two quarters.

In the the second half, the Mustangs turned the tables and went on for the win.

Salina Central now knew they would face the winner of the last game of the day - Salina South or Andover. In a matchup of two teams the Mustangs will face again in the regular season, the Trojans pulled away for a 54-39 win.

Salina South will face Clay Center for third place at 8:15 Friday night. Salina Central will matchup with second-seeded Andover for the boys tournament championship at 7:15 Saturday night.
