The Salina Central Mustangs bid for a Salina Invitational Basketball Championship came up short Saturday night. The Mustangs fell to the Andover Trojans in the championship game to finish second in the tourney.

Andover took the lead to begin the game, and forced the Mustangs to play catch-up the rest of the way.

Andover led 16 - 10 at the end of the first quarter. The Trojans extended the lead to 28 - 20 at the half.

Andover continued to pull away in the 3rd quarter and led 39 - 29 as the quarter ended.

The Mustangs began the 4th quarter with a sense of urgency. Max Kuhn and Treyton Hines both hit long three point shots to cut into the lead early in the quarter, but the Trojans proved to be too much. With 4:00 left in the game the lead bulged to 12 and Andover held on for a 55 - 48 win.

Treyton Hines led the Mustangs, scoring 23 points.

Hines was named to the All Tournament team along with teammate Max Kuhn. Salina Souths Justin Stonebraker was also named to the all tourney team.

Andover's Adam Dekoning was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player and Brady Carter was the Tournament Most Inspirational Player.
