Sacred Heart opened its boys game Friday night on a 6-0 run and never trailed as the Knights went on for a 48-38 win.
Tate Richards led the charge for the Knights in the first quarter, scoring the first eight points of the game. Sacred Heart led by as many as seven points and held an 11-6 advantage after the opening quarter.
A Hutch Trinity spurt early in the second quarter cut the lead to 11-10, but that would ultimately be as close as the Celtics would ever get. A 9-0 Knights run made the score 20-10 and Sacred Heart led 23-14 at halftime.
Early in the second half, the Knights built their biggest lead of 15 points at 31-16. That was followed by a 13-2 Celtics run to cut the lead to four points. Sacred Heart got the last three points of the third quarter to lead 36-29.
Early in the fourth quarter, Hutch Trinity was as close as two points at 36-34, but a Richards three-point play began another Knights run that would give Sacred Heart some breathing room. The Knights scored the next seven points and eventually finished the game on a 12-4 run to take home a 10-point win.
Richards led the Knights and all scorers with 19 points. Nathan Eisenbarth led the Celtics with 17 points.
The Knights improve to 8-6 and remain 4-2 in the NCAA. Their next game will be on the road at Southeast of Saline Tuesday night.
