A soldier from northern Missouri has been awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. Troy Green, who lives in the Cameron area, received the medal during a ceremony Tuesday in St. Joseph.

Brig. Gen. Stephen Cotter, Missouri's assistant adjutant general for air, pinned the medal on Green.
