Central, South Second in Swim Meet

The Salina Central and Salina South boys swimming teams each finished second in Wednesday’s meet at the Salina District pool.

Salina Central fell to Newton 435-367. Matt Martin, Noah Hadnot, Erick Nilson and Decker Gates won the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:38.29. Ian Korinek won the diving competition with 172.2 points. Gates also posted a state qualifying time of 24.07 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.

Salina South came closer to Newton, with the Railers pulling out a 425-394 team championship. Duy Nguyen was second in diving for South with 114.45 points.
