Southeast of Saline Splits with Chapman

The Southeast of Saline girls held on to defeat Chapman 57-54 last night.

The Trojans scored the first nine points and led 16-9 after one. They would extend the lead to 32-21 at halftime.

In the second half, Chapman made a charge, cutting the lead to 47-38 after three. Chapman would get within three late as Southeast struggled at the line, but the Irish missed a three at the buzzer as the Trojans held on.

Erica Montgomery scored a season-high 25 points and pulled in 12 rebounds. Delani White added 12 and Calli Calahan 11 for Southeast.

The Trojans play Beloit and Minneapolis this week.

The Southeast of Saline boys fell behind early, but rallied before falling short 53-49 to Chapman.

The Irish led 16-10 after one, and held a 25-20 lead at halftime. Chapman would build a 38-27 lead in the third quarter before Southeast rallied. The Trojans trailed by 13 before going on a 10-0 run to get within three, but Chapman hit free throws late to secure the win.

Ben Stutterheim scored 19 points, with eight in the fourth quarter. Kyler Sager added a season-high 11 points.

The Trojans are 8-7 on the season and play Beloit and Minneapolis this week.
