The Ell-Saline girls basketball team used a strong second half to defeat Remington 59-47 on Friday night.

Remington built a 12-8 lead after one, and led by five, 26-21 at halftime. Ell-Saline made its move in the second half, outscoring Remington 15-9 in the third quarter to go up 36-35 going to the fourth quarter.

Up by two in the fourth, the Cardinals used a 9-0 run to take a double-digit lead. Ell-Saline then converted free throws down the stretch to hold on.

Brittany Clancy led the way with 14 points. Darriane Wikoff added 12 and Taylor Albers 10.

The Cardinals are 13-3 overall and 6-1 in the Heart of America League. They travel to Moundridge and Ellinwood this week.

The Ell-Saline boys basketball team fell to Remington 57-46 on Friday night.

Ell-Saline led 9-7 after one, but Remington would take a 20-17 lead at halftime. The Broncos would expand the lead to 38-31 after three, and then managed to hold on in the fourth quarter for the win.

Free throws were a big difference in the game, as Remington converted 28 of 48 chances, while Ell-Saline was 6 for 10.

Keegan Hays had 12 points to lead Ell-Saline.

The Cardinals are 6-10 overall and 1-6 in the Heart of America League. They travel to Moundridge and Ellinwood this week.
