Manhunt Has Area Schools on Edge

Antonio Brown turned himself in to authorities in Wichita.
The search for a child killer who escaped from the Saline County Jail late Monday afternoon has some area schools on edge.
Salina USD 305 schools are on "heightened awareness". According to the district's website, schools are on heightened security in response to the police search underway in Salina. Doors in school buildings are locked and building entry is being monitored. Normal activities continue inside all schools.
According to USD 240, their schools are currently on lock down for safety precautions due to the escape of a convict from Saline County jail. If you need to enter the building please call 488-3321 (Bennington), 488-3323 (BGS) or 283-4774 (Tescott).
29-year-old Antonio Brown escaped from jail at 4:17 Monday afternoon, the eve of when he was to be sentenced.
Back on January 9th Brown pleaded no contest in Saline County District court to first degree murder during commission of a felony. He also pleaded no contest to two counts of child abuse in connection with the 2011 beating death of 14-month-old Clayden Lee Urbanek.
Late Tuesday morning he still was not back in custody. Brown should be considered dangerous.

As a parent of school aged children, I am re-assured knowing that the doors to the school are locked today. I realize that a locked door might not stop a maniac, but at least they have taken every step they can to make sure our children are protected. Thank you USD305 for taking that step!

Hopefully they will find his corpse soon so all can relax. I think we need to be looking up in the trees for a swinging pile of trash hanging from a rope.

Sorry Doug, but don't you think a gun could protect your children better than a lock? We saw how well locks worked at Sandy Hook.

Tracr anyone would have been dead at sandy hook if they contronted the guy with his automatic weapon you evidently watch to many tv shows. A killer blasting his way into anywhere even the 3rd floor of our city county building will eliminate everyone in their path as soon as the elevator door opens.

I will tell you one thing if I run into this baby killer or my friends do he is one dead M exican plain and simple. We have been out looking for him but he is probably on his way back to his country.

@tracr I don't know if you got the memo or not, but this isn't really a school shooting we're concerned about here. Also, didn't we see how well guns worked at Sandy Hook, too? If I remember correctly, the 20 first graders were killed with a gun. Do some research on the Virginia Tech shooting and how they tried to arm a professor with a gun and in 6 scenarios the teacher being armed did nothing. We can never do enough, we just have to do what is best at the time.

Alot of over kill. This guy killed a baby and chances are he does not have the guts to go one on one with someone his size. I believe the sheriff purposely came out and said he was dangerous like the heavy weight cop killer in California. If he is this dangerous why was he taken out of shackles and handcuffs making it real easy to escape.

i think he is still in salina ks someone i know saw him at sunset dillions asking for money for food. outside of the store and they did not know about him tell it came on the tv

when this guy was busted the first time Anna Heberly was hiding him the cops need to go check her house there best friends and she is also bad on drugs there you go get him.
