Fourth quarter comebacks fall short in both games.

For the second time this season, Beloit swept a boys and girls doubleheader from Sacred Heart.

In the girls game, the Lady Knights took an early 1-0 lead, but played from behind for the rest of the night, ultimately falling by a score of 51-47.

In contrast to their low-scoring first game at Beloit in January, the teams combined for 31 first quarter points as the Lady Trojans led 18-13.

In the second quarter, Beloit built its first double-digit advantage and led 33-23 at halftime.

With the score 37-27 midway through the third quarter, Sacred Heart Head Coach Mark Ramsey was called for a technical foul. As the quarter wound down, that actually turned out to be a bit of a spark for the Lady Knights as both Beloit free throws were missed and Sacred Heart scored the last five points of the period to cut the lead in half to 37-32 heading into the final quarter.

Unfortunately for the Knights, the Trojans regained their double-digit lead late in the game. With the score 48-37, Sacred Heart made a late comeback, but fell four points short.

Cara Donley led the Lady Knights with 16 points. Tracie Thibault added ten and Megan Gilliland scored eight points.

Sacred Heart falls to 6-11 overall and 1-9 in the NCAA league.

In the boys game, the Knights led early, but were outscored by a combined 30-10 in the second and third quarters as Beloit went on for a 58-48 win.

Each team had the lead in the opening period along with one tie at 6-6. The Knights scored the first four points of the game, then Beloit answered with the next six. Once Sacred Heart regained the advantage at 9-6, they led for the rest of the quarter. Beloit's Caleb Palen beat the first-quarter buzzer with his third three-pointer to cut the Sacred Heart lead to 14-11.

In the second period, the scoring slowed, but the pace didn't as it took nearly four minutes of gametime for either team to score a second-quarter point. The Knights only gave up ten points, but could only muster four points themselves. At halftime Beloit led 21-18.

The third quarter was the pivotal point of the game, with Beloit outscoring Sacred Heart 20-6. The Knights trailed 41-24 heading into the final quarter.

An 11-3 Knights run early in the fourth quarter quickly cut the lead to nine points. Sacred Heart also got within as few as seven points at 53-46 late in the game, but ultimately fell short in a 10-point loss. Sacred Heart wound up scoring 24 points in the final period, the same amount as the first three quarters combined.

The Knights were led by Tony Chavez with 13 points, and Brooks Brown's eleven. Tate Richards also scored eight points for Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart falls to 11-7 overall and 7-3 in the NCAA league.

The Knights next games will be against Republic County at home this Friday on Senior Night.
