Kendra Gable of Salina won $20,000 playing a $2 scratch ticket.

Kendra Gable of Salina is very familiar with $2 Bonus Crossword tickets. As she says, “I know how the game goes.” It went even better than usual for Gable this week when she matched ten words on a Bonus Crossword ticket and won herself a $20,000 prize.

“I was by myself at home when I scratched off the ticket,” Gable told Lottery officials. “I called my boyfriend three times at work before I could get him to call me back. When he finally did I told him we were going to Topeka.”

In all the excitement, Gable said she almost forgot the most important thing.

“We were on our way, just getting on the highway, and I realized I didn’t have the ticket! We had to turn around and go back for it. I had forgotten I put the ticket in my coat and then left the coat hanging in the bedroom.”

Once she had the ticket safely in hand and had claimed it at Lottery headquarters, Gable was able to relax a little bit, although not completely.

“It’s incredibly exciting,” she said. “It’s just starting to hit me that I really won. I’m pretty overwhelmed.”

Gable purchased her lucky ticket at Prime Time 123, located at 100 N. Broadway in Salina.
