Mustangs Sweep Campus

Salina Central used a big third quarter to open a large margin over Campus and rolled to a 49-31 win in the girls game.

Campus scored the opening points of the game, but Central used a 9-2 run to end the quarter and led 9-4 after one.

In the second quarter, Central would push the lead to nine at 21-12 at the break.

In the third quarter, Central outscored Campus 18-8 and led 39-20 after three, and cruised to the win.

Shaelyn Martin picked up a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. MacKenzie Morris had 11 points, Hayley Mayfield had 11 points as well.

The Mustangs are now 12-6 and host Maize on Tuesday.

Salina Central opened the game with a large lead and cruised to a 70-33 win over Campus.

The Mustangs led 9-0 early, then Campus responded with a 7-2 run, before Central closed the half with an 8-0 run to lead 19-7 after one.

The Mustangs outscored Campus in the second quarter 12-8 and led 31-15 at halftime.

Central used an 8-3 run to start the third quarter and led 50-24 after three.

The Mustangs outscored the Colts 20-9 in the fourth quarter and pulled away for the win.

Central shot 50 percent from the floor in the game.

Treyton Hines led the way with 13 points, while Jordan McNelly added 10.

The Mustangs are 12-6 and host Maize on Tuesday.
